Weekly Moments: Long Uni Days and Fun Moments

Monday: A Very Long Uni Day

Monday was one of those university days that feels endless. Six hours of class, all in the same classroom, with no real breaks in between. Even though the content was interesting, it was mentally exhausting.

The day started with a lecture by Enrica Tarchi, who has an incredibly impressive career. She spent many years as the Press Officer of Juventus and now works as a communication advisor for Olympique Marseille. Since I’m very interested in communications, this class was genuinely helpful and inspiring.

Straight after, we had a class on data analytics by Álvaro Gomar, who is part of the data analytics team at Real Madrid. While data analytics isn’t really my thing, it was still interesting to see how that side of the club operates and how many people are involved behind the scenes.

Tuesday: Gym and YouTube

Tuesday started the way many of my days do lately, with a gym session followed by university. This time we had a class by Oliva Cárcar, focused on YouTube. Most of the content felt fairly self-explanatory, but it was still a nice change from the more intense and theory-heavy classes we usually have.

Wednesday: The Best Day

Wednesday was by far my favourite day of the week. No classes, but a full and fun schedule. I won’t go into too much detail here, because I wrote a separate article about this day under Madrid Musts, but let’s just say it was one of those days that will be a memory forever.

Thursday: Lost Keys and Changed Plans

Thursday was supposed to be another full university day, but plans changed. If you read my Wednesday post, you already know that I managed to lose my keys. Replacing them turned out to be more complicated than expected, and by the time everything was sorted, I would have been far too late to attend class.

Not ideal, but it did give me a very valid excuse to go to the gym instead.

Friday: Back at Uni

Friday brought the final class by Phil Kitromilidis, but this time not about sports commentary. Instead, the focus was on pre-match stand-ups. He explained the different types of stand-ups and how to prepare for them, after which it was our turn to practice. Definitely not as bad a doing live commentary in my opinion.

Saturday: Cold, Rain, and Food

Saturday ended up being unexpectedly full, but very fun. The day started with brunch at El Gordito with Claire and Anouk. I’ll definitely write a separate blog post about this place, because it was so good.

After brunch, we were in the mood for bubble tea, so naturally, that happened. Unfortunately, the cold and rain were too much, so after freezing our fingers off, we decided to warm up at Claire’s place. Later in the afternoon, we went to O’Connells, a classic pub, to watch some rugby. I didn’t understand much of the game, but the atmosphere made up for it.

The most delicious brunch.

Sunday: Basketball

And then Sunday, today, as I’m writing this after another basketball game. The day started with groceries, which were very much needed. After that, I headed to the WiZink Center to watch what turned out to be a fairly quiet basketball game. My article about that match is already up if you’re interested.

Afterwards, Anouk and I went to IKEA to pick up some kitchen essentials. Back home, with a show on in the background, I tried meal prepping for the first time. Hopefully a good step towards more balanced meals and a better routine going into the new week.

That’s it for now.
See you here again next week <3

In the press zone for the game.
