Madrid Musts

Madrid Musts: Restaurante Allegra

It has been a while since I last posted a separate Madrid Musts recommendation, but this place absolutely deserves its own moment. Even though I briefly mentioned it in my final Weekly Moments of 2025, Restaurante Allegra is one of those restaurants that you keep thinking about long after you’ve left.

Located in the Salamanca neighbourhood, this Italian restaurant surprised me from the very first visit. I will be honest, I am not usually the biggest Italian food fan as I do not like pasta, which makes it even more impressive that I genuinely love this place. I first went here to celebrate my friend Claire’s birthday, and I was immediately struck by the quality of the dishes.

The Concept and the Food

This is not your typical Italian restaurant where pizza is the main attraction. Instead Allegra focusses on high-quality pasta dishes, fresh fish, and beautifully prepared meat. Everything feels well thought out and carefully balanced.

The cocktails are also not to be missed. They are well-made, creative, and the perfect way to start or end your evening. And if you order sides, do yourself a favour and get the truffle parmesan fries. Skipping those would honestly be a mistake.

Atmosphere and Ambience

Although the restaurant itself is quite spacious, the interior feels cozy and intimate. The warm lighting, layout, and attention to detail make it feel like a place where you can really settle in for the night.

What makes the atmosphere even better is the live piano music. There is usually a pianist playing during the evening, which adds to the overall experience and sets the tone for a relaxed but elegant night out.

Prices and Practical Information

Allegra is definitely not a budget option, but the quality makes up for it. Starters are around €20, pasta dishes are roughly €26, and if you go for meat or fish, you should expect around €30 per person. Side dishes, like the truffle fries are about €7 euros, and cocktails average around €16.

While these prices are higher than many other Italian restaurants in Madrid, the experience, food quality, and atmosphere make it worth it. You will leave full, satisfied, and with a night to remember.
