Weekly Moments: Cameras, Cold Nights & Comfortable Hoodies

This week felt like a bit of everything with a lot of travelling, a lot of learning, and luckily also a lot of fun moments in between. Between long days at university, new experiences, and rainy evenings in Madrid, it somehow all balanced out.

Lessons, Lessons, and More Lessons

This week involved a lot of commuting — one and a half hours each way — on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. By Saturday, I was still travelling, but this time for work. Tiring, yes, but worth it.

On Monday, we had class with Mario Santos, where we learned all about the film cameras used in sports interviews. It was fascinating and a little overwhelming — you can read more about it in my Master Class post.

Tuesday brought another highlight: a photography class with Paul Hanna (also featured in Master Class). After class, a big group of us went to a pub to watch the Liverpool vs Real Madrid Champions League match. Liverpool won 1–0, and let’s just say I wasn’t too upset about that result — it’s always fun and a little scary supporting the opposite team in Madrid.

Visitors & Rainy City Strolls

Wednesday was a total change of pace. I had my favourite person visiting from Valencia, and we spent the day doing absolutely nothing productive — just walking through the city in the rain, eating, and later going to our favourite wine bar (which will definitely get its own Madrid Musts post soon).

The next morning started with a cozy breakfast and two failed attempts at getting a decent photo-booth picture before I had to head back to uni again.

Public Speaking in the TV Studio

Thursday’s class was our second and last session with Nuria Moreno, focused on public speaking and presentation skills. We had to present twice inside an actual TV studio, with microphones, lights, and the full setup.

I wasn’t nervous about speaking — more about having to watch myself back on the big screen. But in the end, it was fine. Nuria’s feedback was so encouraging, which made the whole experience surprisingly enjoyable.

Rain, Cameras & Oversized Hoodies

Friday was one of those long, rainy Madrid days. I had to go all the way to uni just to pick up a camera, which honestly felt exhausting. Still, I made the most of it and went straight into the shops afterwards, hunting for big, cozy sweaters to survive the upcoming cold. Mission accomplished.

Match Day: Behind the Lens

Saturday was long, cold, and completely worth it. It was my first time working as a photographer during a football match — and what an experience. It was freezing, my fingers were numb, but I learned a lot and even got to see Real Madrid Femenino win 5–0.

After the match, a few of us escaped the cold into a pub to catch the end of the Chelsea game. Later that night, Fran and I went out dancing with a few friends — or at least, we tried. It was so crowded it turned into more of a “standing and gasping for air” situation than actual dancing, but still a fun night. I also got to experience

Sunday Reset

Today has been the total opposite — a quiet day at home editing photos, writing blog posts, and now, I’m about to put on a Christmas movie (yes, it’s November 9th and that’s officially allowed).

Next week already looks packed with new classes, small stories, and a weekend trip to Valencia on the horizon. I have a feeling there’s a lot to look forward to…
